More Masai madness!

…getting bored yet? ūüôā

Well, its always nice to get a few nice shots of your latest handy work so here they are. More Masai. Bringing the total to 40 figures so far.

This gives me enough to do the small skirmish game, such as Congo, or to play the mass skirmish (preferred game) like Rifles & Spears which we discussed¬†in the last couple of posts. In total the entire lot add up to the better part of 500 points which is quite a large army in Rifles & Spears though Masai are ‘costly’ troops in the game.¬†The true test is that they generate about 5 units of 8 figures each, or 4 at 10 which is getting¬†to about¬†the¬†right numbers for a good game.

I think another 20 or so will do nicely for topping up the figure total for the single figure massed skirmish collection. That would bring my total to about 60 odd figures and that starts to position the collection to start thinking about using them for Death In The Dark Continent, the big battle system, as opposed to the mass skirmish Rifles & Spears.

Note – I tried a different location¬†taking these pics ¬†to try and get some more natural light on the minis. I think the natural light and black background makes for deep, richer images and works a bit better though the actual shots are a little boring…hope you agree.

In these pics I’ve used an artificial lawn grass cut into areas to represent ‘tall grass’….a bit of a tester of this possible use as terrain. As you can see some have had flock on bases, spray¬†paint to make them less green and so on…I think it looks ‘OK’ though I’m not entirely happy with it. It’s certainly cheap and abundant and quite fast to get going…absolutely storage prof as well….so not a bad¬†compromise at the moment…still on the hunt for¬†the perfect ‘tall grass’ in Masai land!

  1. More Masai is good – now that you¬īve lured me into Colonial Africa with your latest posts on the subject you better keep them coming. You¬īre not officially my source of inspiration for this period ūüėČ

    Good stuff, keep it up!
