Hoplites – arrayed for battle…

In the last post we took a peek at the completion of large units of hoplites for the Greek project.

In this post we follow up with some more visuals to show them ‘on table’. I haven’t dived into any battle reports or the like at this stage as I’ve been focusing on getting ‘stuff done’.

However we have pushed these men of bronze across the on-table fields and they are quite the sight to behold when all laid out.

More detailed battle reports to follow but fo r now some more eye candy…

    • Hi Simon. Depending on the photo there are 500+ hoplites…there are more not shown in these shots! There will be a To the Strongest battle report to follow in the upcoming engagements that use a few rules systems. First one to do will be using the grand daddy of them all…DBA v3.0…the Battle of Tanagra (457BC)….it’ll have 650+ hoplites going toe-to-toe 😉

      • Super! I am most impressed. I’ve never managed to get as many hoplites as I’d like- you officially have more than me, now! 🙂

I have fond memories of our hoplite game at yours and lunch at the corner local as well…as I have more hoplites than you now I feel in a position to do To the Strongest justice withe ‘a big clash’…I dare not do it one minute before!

…one more ticked off the bucket list…more hoplites than Simon Miller!

    • I recall it well! A super day.

I do plan to add a few more Greeks at some stage. I find them particularly hard to paint, but they look so fine!
